Fans are speculating whether a new hero and a new map will be released for Overwatch
Blizzard have had a very busy month.
Having celebrated Overwatch's first full year on PS4, Xbox One and PC, the development team have been busy with the switch-over of Competitive Play, as well as the release of new skins and arena maps.
And now it appears that even more content might be launching soon, although exactly what it will include is hard to tell right now.
Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan also told Express Online that the team was "very far along with hero number 25".
While Kaplan did point out that far along doesn't necessarily mean the hero is ready, he made the comments during an interview with Express Online in April.

The new Overwatch hero is being through a fictional press release

Other reports suggested that the new hero would be followed by two additional characters, named Bria and Ivon.

And this latest Overwatch news appears to suggest that the next big character is set to arrive in the coming weeks.
A new Overwatch hero named Hammond, who is apparently a great ape like Winston, could be part of a big new update, following a fictional in-game press release regarding The Horizon Lunar Colony, which apparently went offline years ago.
The new Overwatch teaser was posted today without warning by Blizzard, and is likely the first in a series of clues that will be released by the development over the coming days.
Overwatch's new hero could be arriving very soon
“For the first time in years after Horizon Lunar Colony went offline, new information has been revealed as to the fate of the program,” the in-game announcement reads.
“At a press conference today, Lucheng Interstellar revealed the surprising fact that the colony's databases and monitoring systems are still up and running this day.
“While no direct communication has been established with the facility, the company has successfully retrieved interpersonnel logs sent days and moments before the base lost contact with earth. Below are some of the transmissions Lucheng shared.

The new Overwatch Anniversary event has begun
“Lucheng Interstellar has released its first image of the colony's still-operating integrated monitoring systems. A Lucheng spokesperson told Atlas News the connection is unstable, but the company is working around the clock to gather new information.”
The slideshow of logs seem to suggest that Hammond is a great ape of some kind who apparently didn’t take to “genetic therapy” as intended.
It could be a perfect way to end the Overwatch Anniversary event on June 12, although fans should expect a slow rollout that could see Hammond released on the PTR before normal PC, PS4 and Xbox One servers.
This was done with Orisa back in March, to help fans get adjusted to the new hero for Competitive Play.
