Overwatch Chinese New Year of the Rooster
The Overwatch Year of the Rooster event is directly tied to bringing new items, emotes and skins to the game, as part of the title’s Chinese New Year celebrations.
The new content will be officially unveiled today by Blizzard, who also look set to offer a brand new event mode.
There’s usually hundreds of new cosmetic items added following each seasonal event’s launch and fans are likely to find more out about that later today.
Right now, we already know that Blizzard are working on rebalancing a few characters, as well as adding a new feature to Xbox One and PS4.
One fans gave game director Jeff Kaplan a series of requests, which included changing the damage rate connected to Torbjorn and Symmetra’s turrets, as well as offering a way to report players on consoles.

Overwatch Year of the Rooster could contain a few character changes too
This was Kaplan’s reply on both subjects: “Regarding Torbjorn and Symmetra: We've been watching them closely. Up until recently they were performing in lockstep with PC.
“Recently they've begun to diverge a little bit so we're taking a look at them now and we'll consider adjusting them.
“Regarding Reporting: This feature is coming to both PS4 and Xbox. I don't have an exact ETA because there are many moving parts to make this happen.
“My hope is that everything locks into place before summer… or sooner. But we're at the mercy of things beyond our control on this one and we've been working super hard to make it happen.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Blizzard will have any of these changes ready for deadline today, however, that doesn’t mean other tweaks won’t be included in the official patch notes.
The Overwatch PTR has been running some changes of late, so we could see some of them make their way to console in an official patch.
While fans look forward to the launch of the Year of the Rooster, a recently leaked video suggests it will include a Capture the Flag mode.
The Overwatch update goes live on January 24, although Blizzard is yet to reveal the exact start time for the Year of the Rooster event.
