Overwatch Season 5 will include a low gravity Assault Map
Horizon Lunar Colony was revealed earlier this week, with PC players able to try it out via the PTR servers.
One of the biggest game mechanics being added is low gravity, game director Jeff Kaplan spoke more on the subject recently, explaining: “We explored a lot of different options for the moon map.
“At first we had low gravity for the whole map and we felt that it turned the game into a little bit of gimmick.
“And while it was fun for a bit, it broke the game in some ways that while fun, took away from the competitive nature of Overwatch.”
Kaplan confirmed that they decided to tone down where the low gravity was available on the Lunar map, revealing that an area could be found near point A’s airlocks.
The game director also spoke more on the story ramifications of the map, confirming that Blizzard are using it to flesh out Winston’s backstory.

While not confirmed, references to a small Gorilla named Hammond have been bettered through the recent content released by Blizzard.
Talking about the new map and its content, Kaplan added: “You’ll even pick up on some names and some potential mysteries of some of Winston’s peers.
“Some of the other Gorillas that were also part of the Horizon experiment.”
No mention has been made if a new hero is being released, although Blizzard have confirmed they’ve been working on the next character for some time.

Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan also told Express Online that the team was "very far along with hero number 25".
While Kaplan did point out that far along doesn't necessarily mean the hero is ready, he made the comments during an interview with Express Online in April.
Since then, there have been reports of a new offensive, attack-minded character that can be used to counter Reinhardt and Roadhog.
Other reports suggested that the new hero would be followed by two additional characters, named Bria and Ivon.
