New Overwatch Season 5 details have been released
The Overwatch new map is based on the Lunar Horizon Colony recently revealed by Blizzard through an in-game Atlas news report.
“Built as a first step towards humanity's renewed exploration of space, the Horizon Lunar Colony’s goal was to examine the effects of prolonged extraterrestrial habitation—on human and ape alike,” the official description reads.
“The scientists’ research proved incredibly promising…until, suddenly, all contact and communications with the base were lost.”
The Horizon Lunar Colony will be an Assault Map, which has yet to be given an official release date.
PC players can actually start playing the new map right now on the PTR server, with Blizzard asking fans to try out the new level before it's released during Overwatch Season 5.
Season 5 officially began earlier today on PS4, Xbox One and PC and provide rewards for those who excel.

Anyone who completes their placement matches during a season will receive a special spray and player icon, unique to that season.
And if players are placed within the Top 500 players on platform and region at the end of the season, they’ll receive an extra player icon and animated spray.
On top of that, as you complete competitive matches, you’ll earn a currency called Competitive Points. When the season concludes, you’ll also receive a number of these points (based on your overall performance) to spend on golden versions of your favorite heroes' weapons.
“Before you can kick off your competitive career, every player must first complete 10 placement matches to obtain their initial skill rating. This rating will be a number between 1 and 5000, with higher values indicating a greater skill level.

“Players will also be assigned a tier based on their rating—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, or Grandmaster—and climbing into the next tier is possible as you improve.
“Skill ratings and tier icons will be visible at the beginning of every match. As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.”

You can find the new Season 5 icon above, although surprisingly Blizzard have not revealed any big changes between Season 4 and Season 5, meaning the same rules based on SR are in place.
“Some players, for instance, have been deliberately throwing matches in an effort to reach the lowest attainable skill rating. We obviously don't want to incentivize this behavior—because Competitive Play works best when everybody is trying—so we're making it a little more difficult to hit the lowest and highest possible ratings: 0 and 5000.
"We're also no longer displaying skill rating values that are lower than 500. This change will have no effect for players who have a skill rating between 500 and 4500.
“We're also making some changes to the Top 500 leaderboard. Previously, any player who managed to break into the top 500 at any point throughout the season would receive a special spray and player icon at the end of the season.
"This meant that many players no longer had an incentive to maintain their status as the season progressed, which could result in less competitive matches toward the end of the season.”
