In the images, Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe) and her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) are seen deep in discussion but trouble appears to be afoot.
Both seem to be at odds and in the middle of an argument but it is uncertain what could have caused the falling out.
However, the shots confirm that Jamie and Claire will be reunited after they went their separate ways at the end of season two.
These latest photos were taken in Tweeddale Court off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh earlier this week as filming continues on the latest series.
The images also confirm that action would be returning to Scotland after the last run was set mainly in the court of Louis XV in Versailles, France.
Season three is set to feature the pivotal Battle of Culloden and is based on writer Diana Gabaldon’s third novel Voyager from the Outlander series.

The photos come as Outlander picked up four gongs at the People’s Choice Awards, including one each for the two lead stars in the Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor and Actress categories.
The pair were busy filming and had to send a pre-recorded video message to thank fans after they won, which was also shared from the Outlander Twitter account.
In the short video, the two were still dressed in costume as their characters and appeared to be on set.
