North Korea’s vice foreign minister today claimed the President of the United States would be to blame after a series of antagonising military exercises and tweets.
Vice minister Han Song Ryol said in Pyongyang the country was ready to use its “powerful nuclear deterrent” if President Trump continues to provoke North Korea.
He said: “We will go to war if they choose.
“If the US come with reckless military manoeuvres then we will confront it with the DPRK’s preemptive strike.

“We’ve got a powerful nuclear deterrent already in our hands and we certainly will not keep our arms crossed in the face of a US preemptive strike.”
North Korea's KCNA news agency added in a statement: "The US introduces into the Korean peninsula, the world's biggest hotspot, huge nuclear strategic assets, seriously threatening peace and security of the peninsula and pushing the situation there to the brink of a war.
"This has created a dangerous situation in which a thermo-nuclear war may break out any moment on the peninsula and posed serious threat to the world peace and security, to say nothing of those in Northeast Asia."
Tensions reached a new high when President Trump ordered the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group to head for the Korean peninsula in an attempt to deter North Korea’s nuclear and long-range missile ambitions.
In an interview with Fox Business Network, he said: “We are sending an armada. Very powerful.
“We have submarines. Very powerful. Far more powerful than the aircraft carrier. That I can tell you.”
