The Nintendo Switch could beat the Wii and become the Big N's best selling console
Nintendo Switch has only been out for a few months but is already setting sales records for the Super Mario and Legend of Zelda maker.
And if current sales trends continue – it may even eclipse the Nintendo Wii as the Big N’s best selling home console ever.
In the first two months on sale, the Switch has outsold the Wii by more than 10 per cent in the US, according to figures released by GameStop.
This ties into previous comments made by American Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime soon after the Switch launch.

He said the Nintendo Switch sales figures for the first Friday and Saturday exceeded first two day sales in the Americas for ANY system in Nintendo’s history.
Nintendo UK has also confirmed in the aftermath of the Switch launch that the handheld hybrid sold more units in its launch weekend than the Wii.

Nintendo had previously stated that they hoped to sell 10million Switch units by the end of the console’s first year.

And it looks like they are trying to capitalise on the public demand by revising this target to 18million, according to the Financial Times (via GameSpot).
The only way the Big N will be able to hit that target is by ramping up production to fulfil demand.
In other good news for Nintendo, the announcement of Monster Hunter XX has helped Ninty’s shares rise by 5.48 per cent to 33,510 yen.
This is the highest Nintendo’s shares have been since October 2008, according to Forbes.

At last year’s E3 the console, which was codenamed NX, did not make an appearance at as it was still under wraps.
It was announced months later during a special Nintendo online broadcast.
Leaks have suggested that Nintendo could announce a Smash Bros title and a Mario Rayman crossover called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
