Nintendo Switch pre order, games and price updates
A new Nintendo Switch pre order update this week appears to suggest that demand could be very high for the console this year.
For those worried about pre order stock levels, Nintendo have already moved to assure fans that retailer will be able to cope with the demand in the weeks ahead.
This maybe reflected in a recent hardware update, in which the display-makers have been reportedly asked to make three million for its initial batch.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Japan Display, the company in charge of the order, is aiming to supply up to 10m units by the end of 2017.
That’s a big number, to put it in context, the Wii U up to now has sold just over 14m units. This will ultimately be determined by demand but it appears people are optimistic of the new console’s chances.
A new industry analyst report also states that the Nintendo Switch is set to sell a healthy amount by the year 2020.
In fact, the Nintendo Switch price is not going to stop 40m people deciding to grab one of the new gaming machines, which is set to makes its debut in March.
This would mean that the Nintendo Switch is on course to sell almost three times as many units as the Wii U, although key titles promised will need to be in place by the festive season.
"Demand is expected to be strong and the major issue will be whether the system can attract a broad audience starting in the holiday sales season of 2017,” the DFC report states.
These are still conservative figures from DFC, who say that while the Switch could appeal to a lot of people, Nintendo haven’t exactly impressed with how they’ve handled recent products.
Nintendo are expected to have around 2m Switch units in place for launch on March 3.

More Nintendo Switch price drops have been found on leading games following the news that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had receive a retail cut.
A customer representative from Amazon has confirmed that recommended retail price guidelines provided by Nintendo for each item has now changed.
And now even more title have seen pricing realignments, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, 1-2-Switch and Arms.
These games have seen some retailers move from a £49.99 – £59.99 listing, to £44.99, £34.99 and £49.99 instead.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the most high profile launch title on Switch, but had previously been given a £60 price tag on Amazon.
However, Argos has since reduced The Legend of Zelda, cutting the upcoming Nintendo Switch game to £49.99.
Amazon has since followed suit, reducing the price from £60 to £50 ahead of the March 3 release date.
It's still £10 more expensive than the Wii U version, which is being advertised for £40.

The Nintendo Switch games launch lineup has been given a boost with the news that Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ will be available on the March 3 release date.
This means that six games have now been announced for the Nintendo Switch launch in March.
"By now you’ve hopefully heard that The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is coming to Nintendo Switch in retail form. What does it mean?" reads a Binding of Isaac blog post.
"It means that there is more than just The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on launch.
"Afterbirth+ will be available at retail as well as on the Nintendo eShop for $39.99 and will include Rebirth, Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ packed together as one game."
There's no word on a UK release date at the time of writing, and there's no sign of the game on Amazon.
Publisher Nicalis had previously tweeted about a European retail release for the game, so fingers crossed it lands on March 3.
"Who wants The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ available for Nintendo Switch physical/retail in Europe? RT."
The Nintendo Switch launch lineup includes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 1-2 Switch and Super Bomberman R.
It's possible third-party developers will have some surprises in store for launch, and fans can also expect a selection of Virtual Console releases.
