The Nintendo Switch won't stop it selling 40m units by 2020
That’s according to a new industry analyst report, which states that the Nintendo Switch is set to sell a healthy amount by the year 2020.
In fact, the Nintendo Switch price is not going to stop 40m people deciding to grab one of the new gaming machines, which is set to makes its debut in March.
This would mean that the Nintendo Switch is on course to sell almost three times as many units as the Wii U, although key titles promised will need to be in place by the festive season.
"Demand is expected to be strong and the major issue will be whether the system can attract a broad audience starting in the holiday sales season of 2017,” the DFC report states.
These are still conservative figures from DFC, who say that while the Switch could appeal to a lot of people, Nintendo haven’t exactly impressed with how they’ve handled recent products.

DFC Intelligence head David Cole commented, "The Switch is a compelling piece of hardware that could potentially reach a much larger addressable market.
“However given the limited software and Nintendo's poor recent track record of introducing new products we have tempered our forecasts to be conservative."
It’s almost a certainty that the Nintendo Switch will beat the Wii U in terms of sales, fans will be more worried about there be enough third-party support to keep the console competitive.
That was one of the main falling off points for the Wii U, plus there will be lingering concerns that the Nintendo are again entering a market showing an underpowered console.
With the added bonus of motion control functionality, some industry figures are backing the new console to have the kind of impact as the Wii, which sold over a 100m units.
Xavier Poix, Managing Director of Ubisoft’s French studios, had this to say: “The Wii attracted a very large audience – including kids and families – because it offered, on one hand, the motion controls, allowing for intuitive interactions with the console and on the other hand games with a strong social component.
“These aspects gave us the opportunity to develop Rabbids and Just Dance, for example. The Switch will probably have a similar impact, thanks to the mobility offered by the console.
“You don’t have to have a home console and a mobile console anymore; there’s one console, which is mobile, that you can bring anywhere.
“With this console, Nintendo follows its philosophy centered on accessibility and social activity with video games. It even goes beyond that with some aspects: keeping the best of the Wii, with the controllers, and offering mobility.
“On brands like Just Dance, we already share this philosophy of being playable anywhere with anybody, and the Switch will push this even further.”
