The Nintendo NES Classic has new rival and has created a massive rethink at the company
The Nintendo Classic NES has never had the retro gaming market completely to itself and now a new rival has emerged.
the Analogue Nt Mini provides the chance for gamers to only enjoy NES titles but also is compatible with every NES, Famicom, Famicom Disk System titles and the accessories, too.
It means that fans can grab their old cartridges and enjoy them again using the same level ease as the recently launched Nintendo Classic NES.
But one new feature that may not be on the official Analogue list was recently revealed, the Analogue Nt Mini can be jailbroken.
It was apparently performed by Analogue's lead engineer and allows the Nt Mini to run ROMs, as well as Atari 2600/7800, Coleco and Game Boy games, via a cartridge adapter.
Founder Chris Taber told Forbes: "One of the other things that separates the Nt Mini from all other aftermarket video game systems, is that it is designed with an FPGA. This means 100% compatibility."

Other specs for the Nt Mini include 1080p output via HDMI, as well as RGB, Component, S-Video, and Composite analog video signals.
But while the Nt Mini provides compatibility with over 2000 games, there is one major drawback when it comes to price – with the Nt Mini costing over $400.
In other Nintendo Classic NES news, the impact of the successful console has helped sparked a major rethink at Nintendo, partly in connection with how they can get lapsed gamers back into the market, along with their kids.
“Also with Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition that Nintendo released last year, we are realizing anew how important it is for Nintendo to catch the attention of both new consumers and consumers who stopped playing video games, and provide ways to overcome generational gaps so parents and children can play together (Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is sold in Europe and Australia as Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System),” the director added.
“We will continue to make use of smart devices in order to increase the amount of people who experience Nintendoʼs IP, and, though the Nintendo 3DS and, soon, Nintendo Switch will remain our most important business, we will continue to expand the smart-device business since it has gradually begun to contribute to Nintendoʼs business as a whole.”
