Shortly after the inauguration Farage told Fox Business: “Listening to the speech today, this is a political revolution and it's very exciting."

Farage praised the ceremony and Donald Trump’s speech, tweeting: "A very strong speech by @POTUS. He means it."

It comes as the leading Brexit campaigner obtained his own political show on LBC a few weeks ago.

But Liberal Democrats spokesman condemned his radio role and suggested his work as an MEP could be sabotaged by his long hours on air.

But Farage swiftly said his new job would make “no difference to his job as an MEP”.

Farage who was the first British politician to meet the newly-inaugurated President, previously said he wants to be a “bridge” between the UK and Trump’s administration.

In response, the President tweeted that Farage would make a good British ambassador to the US, although Downing Street swiftly rejected his idea, saying there was “no vacancy”.

On Thursday night, Farage and Aaron Banks, who funded the Leave.EU campaign, held a party at a Washington hotel near the White House.

During his speech at the event, Farage hailed Trump and said: "He was right when he called it a movement but a movement can’t exist, a movement can’t flourish without a leader and Trump is the only person I’ve ever met in my life who makes me feel like an introvert.

"He is the only person I have ever met in my life who makes me fee like an introvert.

“He is a larger than life personality. When he was given the rule book for how you run for president, he tore it up. Brexit is great, but Trump is Brexit plus plus plus.”
