Newcaste Eagles star Scott Martin was delighted to score 41 points against Bristol Flyers
The American forward shot the lights out for Newcastle, making 9 out of 11 shots from three-point range, while also finishing with 11 rebounds and five assists.
The 41-point tally was the most by an Eagles player for four years and it helped the Tyneside club remain hot on the heels of BBL Championship leaders Leicester Riders.
“I got a couple of open looks early and it felt good,” said Martin.
Martin praised his team-mates for helping score 41 points in the win over Bristol Flyers
“I have to give a lot of credit to my teammates who got me open at the right times.”
“Rahmon Fletcher and Deondre Parks made some great drives [to the basket], their penetrations made the defence collapse and I was just standing there open to knock down the shot.”
He added, “One of the things about being on a great team is playing with good players.
“I had 28 points in the first half but once the other guys started to get in a bit of a rhythm, I wasn’t needed to score as much as they started making shots.”

The Eagles now have a fortnight off and for Martin, the mini-break could not have come at a better time as they look to get two key members of the rotation back from injury.
“It’s always tough when you don’t have guys like Darius [Defoe] and Drew [Lasker], it makes it a whole lot harder for us,” admitted Martin.
“Those guys just need some rest, they’ll recover soon hopefully and it’ll be much better when we get them back.”
“This break gives us time to heal to get ready for that stretch run as we try to keep pressure on Leicester," he concluded.
