Against the odds, the wife of Toadie Rebecchi (played by Ryan Maloney) turned up on her ex-husband’s doorstep with a beaming smile as if she’d returned from a casual getaway – or has she?
Toadie’s wife Sonya (Eve Morey) was understandably shaken by the news that her husband’s first love has been living in secrecy for the past 14 years, and has now decided to make her home in Ramsay Street.
And she’s not the only one: Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) was just as suspicious by Dee (Madeleine West) and her curious tale of washing up on a distant shore, much like Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) in 2015. So much so, that the burly policeman has launched an investigation into Dee’s disappearance after authorities searched every inch of the Australian coastline for miles around but found nothing.
What’s more, Dee’s been living with a stranger, Emily, who she claimed has also been in hiding, but from her abusive husband. Though, she seemed reluctant to pass on any of Emily’s details as the residents of Ramsay Street come to terms with their loved one’s sudden resurrection.
Dee Bliss has returned to Neighbours
Dee's return sparked a social media frenzy
Dee explained that she returned years ago to see Toadie, only to find him in the embrace of this then-girlfriend Sindi Watts (Marisa Warrington).
“I want to make amends,” the ghost from Toadie’s past assured, but viewers were divided on Twitter.
One person questioned: "Beautiful acting by Ryan, Madeline and Eve but I'm not convinced by the explanation @neighbours. Will wait to see what else we're told. #Dee."
Anoher slammed: "Dee's return to Neighbours is a really really really bad storyline. I waited 14 years for this s**t."
A third begged: "C'mon tell us where you've been!! #Neighbours"
Others were happy to see Dee return to the show, with one gushing: "Randomly put on the TV and see Dee from Neighbours back from the dead!! This is all too much for a Monday! #neighbours"
"@neighbours very intense #deebliss," a further social networker shared.

Dee was thought to have been killed in a tragic accident back in 2003
Dee has been living in secret for the past 14 years
A third added: "@neighbours you finally brought back #deebliss I am sooo happy at the moment! Amazing! In love with neighbours again!"
Regardless, Dee is going to be residing in Erinsborough for at least three months, and according to actress Madeline, she’s going to get even “darker”.
"She's not a ghost, nor is she a figment of Toadie's imagination and she wasn't abducted by aliens,” the 36-year-old told the Daily Telegraph. “Suffice to say, she has returned and the audience will be in for several big shocks."
Over the coming weeks, Toadie will be thrown another bombshell as he comes face-to-face with his secret daughter Willow, who also miraculously survived plummeting off a cliff edge.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
