A mother smoking a cigarette on a platform was left stunned as the train with her baby pulls away
The young woman sneaked out for a cheeky cigarette break in between stops in France on Monday.
But the 18-year-old mother and her boyfriend were left stranded on a railway station platform after the train pulled away, according to reports.
The couple, who live in Maine-et-Loire, a town in northwestern France, were on a high-speed TGV train bound for the western town of Nantes, but decided to jump off the train for a quick nicotine fix in between two stops, leaving their baby with a doting passenger sat in their compartment.
But the pair were still on the platform puffing on their cigarettes when the doors closed and the train pulled away from the station before they had the chance to regain their seats.
Passengers soon realised that the 'abandoned' tot's parents had been left behind and became hugely distressed, before yelling at the driver to stop the train, a spokesperson for the SNCF said.
