
The Tottenham manager feels he is blessed with leaders, but the 20-year-old was the surprise name he selected when asked to comment on the character in his squad.
“For me, every player has the quality and capacity to be a leader,” Pochettino said.
“It is important we have Hugo Lloris, the captain of France as our skipper, because with his experience he can maybe give better advice.

“But Alli, with his personality and character, maybe he will become a leader in a few years. Every player in squad has leadership qualities, they just need time to develop them.”
His comments are particularly relevant ahead of a trip to Liverpool on Saturday where Jurgen Klopp’s squad has been accused of lacking precisely those qualities.

“It’s important to have good character and always work to win,” Pochettino added. “It is not just about saying ‘I want to win’ – you need to show you want it with behaviour, attitude.
“Enthusiasm is important, your own motivation. If you have character and good personality and you are a leader, it’s a natural uality. I am happy with the personality and the way they move in the changing room, and our performance is good. We can win or lose but I am very happy.”
