Martin Caceres is reportedly set for a medical with Southampton
Martin Caceres is a free agent after being let go by Juventus last summer and can therefore be signed outside the transfer window.
The central defender reportedly turned down a move to AC Milan last month and flew to the UK yesterday for talks with Southampton and Sunderland.
And according to Italian website GianlucaDiMarzio, the 29-year-old has now rejected David Moyes' side in favour of a move to St Mary's.

Football Italia add the Uruguay international is having a medical at Southampton so they can assess his physical condition.
Caceres has been a free agent since June and his wage demands have reportedly prevented him from finding a new club.
GianlucaDiMarzio claimed last week Caceres turned down a move to Milan because they could not match his wages.

Who has your club signed in the January transfer window?
The Serie A side are said to have offered him a £4,000-a-week basic contract with a pay-per-play bonus of £21,000 a game.
However, Southampton are likely to be able to better this given the financial power of Premier League clubs.
If Caceres does make the move to St Mary's he would link up with his former Juve team-mate Manolo Gabbiadini who joined Southampton last month for £14million.
