Steven Gerrard has returned to Liverpool as an academy coach
Gerrard spent 17 years as a player at Liverpool before leaving for LA Galaxy in the summer of 2015, but has now returned to the club as an academy coach.
Liverpool announced his return yesterday and former Reds defender Lawrenson is confident the move will benefit both Gerrard and the club.

But Lawrenson insists the 37-year-old must be allowed time to prove himself at coach level before he can even think about getting into management.
Lawrenson told Radio 5Live: "It’s a win win. Imagine those kids when he walks into the academy. Don’t tell me some of them won’t know who he is. They’ll know who he is.
"It’s great experience for him and the kids. Imagine him coming into training every morning and having a coffee with people like Klopp and picking their brains.

"The only problem is they’ll all be saying ‘oh this might lead to him eventually managing the club’. He’s probably just thinking ‘crikey I hope I’m good at coaching let alone managing’.
"Everyone’s looking a little bit further forward but it’s a great appointment for both the club and for Steven."
