Little Violet Grace died last night after she was hit by a car on Friday
Officers are hunting two men thought to be involved in a hit and run incident in St Helens on Friday.
Four year old Violet-Grace Youens died on last night while her grandmother is in a serious condition in hospital, according to her mother.
Violet was hit on Prescot Road in St Helens on Friday, March 24 at around 3pm.
Her grandmother Angela French, 55, remains in serious but stable condition.Rebecca Youens said: “My beautiful baby girl passed away in my arms on 25/03/2017 at 23.38.
“Thank you for all your well wishes. She was just too poorly.
Two men are wanted in connection with a hit and run which killed a little girl
“However, my brave baby girl saved two lives by donating her kidneys and pancreas. I am truly heartbroken but proud of my little fighter.”
The family added: “Devastated by the loss of their beautiful daughter but they wanted the organ donations to benefit other children and give them a chance to lead long and happy lives”.
Both Violet and her grandmother are believed to have been hit by a black Ford Fiesta.
Two men are reported to have jumped out of the car and left the scene shortly afterwards.
Merseyside Police have released CCTV images of the men and are now appealing for witnesses.
