Michael Carrick has admitted his idol growing up was Paul Gascoigne
Michael Carrick has enjoyed a long and successful career in the Premier League, playing for West Ham, Tottenham and currently Manchester United.
The 35-year-old has played alongside some of the world's best players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, the midfielder has admitted he would have loved to have had England greats Paul Gascoigne and Peter Beardsley as team-mates.
Michael Carrick was also a huge fan of Peter Beardsley as a youngster
"When I was growing up as a kid [Paul] Gascoigne was my idol – Gascoigne and [Peter] Beardsley," Carrick told MOTD magazine.
"I just used to love watching them.
"Beardsley was an unbelievable player but Gascoigne for his personality and what he bought to the pitch.
