Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United: Jose Mourinho changes his mind
Griezmann remains a player of interest and Manchester United could still sign the Atletico Madrid star – but it won't be this summer.
But Express Sport understands they are now they are focussing on signing a number nine style striker – in the mould of Zlatan Ibrahimovic – rather than a 10, like Griezmann and Wayne Rooney.
Manchester United have already been linked with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti and Jose Mourinho is keen to wrap up his business ahead of pre-season.
Atletico Madrid were hit with the news their transfer ban would remain in place this summer but the Spanish club would still be powerless to losing Griezmann due to his release clause.
And United appear ready to wait until securing a big striker before moving ahead with a deal for Griezmann.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Manchester United future is in doubt
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had a fantastic time at Manchester United and it is up to the club and myself to see what the future brings
"For now, it is important he recovers well and then we will see," he told TalkSPORT.
“He has had a fantastic time at Manchester United and it is up to the club and myself to see what the future brings.
"He wants to stay in England, he wants to stay at the top, and if he sees that he can be a valuable asset for Manchester United, then why not Manchester United?
"He can be a valuable asset for some other top clubs also. We have a lot of offers and ideas and we have to evaluate them. But I think it is respectful to talk to United and to see what all parties want."
