According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Jose Mourinho's close relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez could see him return to the Bernabeu in the future.
The Manchester United boss, who spent three years in Madrid before leaving in 2013, reportedly received a call from Perez to wish his wife well after a recent health scare.
There has been speculation surrounding Zinedine Zidane's future at Real as they've won just one of their last five games and were dumped out of the Copa Del Rey by Celta Vigo.
And Don Balon suggest Mourinho could make a shock return to the Spanish capital should Real's season begin to unravel.

Who could Jose Mourinho sign in January?
BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone claims United have included a buy-back clause in the £500,000 sale of midfielder Sean Goss to QPR.
Goss, 21, arrived at Old Trafford in 2012 from Exeter but failed to make a single appearance for the Red Devils' senior team.
But United clearly see potential in the Germany-born midfielder, who is said to be undergoing a medial ahead of his Loftus Road move today.
“United will include a buy-back option in the deal,” Stone said.

Rio Ferdinand wants Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale at Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand has urged United manager Mourinho to sign both Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann at Old Trafford.
"Manchester United have got the money, I'd go get both," former United defender Ferdinand told Squawka.
"They're great players but I don't think they're comparable to be honest.
"They're different players. Gareth could play anywhere across the frontline. He'd be effective anywhere – from the right to the left, central."
