Rooney's recovery from the knee injury that has kept him out of the last four matches is a timely one for Jose Mourinho who could have as many as seven players missing this weekend.
Definitely out are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera, who will be serving the final games of their domestic suspensions and Paul Pogba, whose hamstring injury ruled him out of France's squad during the international break.
