That is the belief of former Red Devils defender Wes Brown.
Jose Mourinho’s side are fighting to qualify for the Champions League via both the Premier League and the Europa League.
Hopes were boosted last night due to Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.
United sit fifth in the table and four points off Manchester City having played a game less, indicating how important Sunday’s visit (4pm) from Chelsea is.
Wes Brown won five Premier League titles and two Champions League titles at Manchester United
Chelsea have been brilliant all season
Brown feels if United manage to beat the league leaders, it puts them in good stead for the run in with eight games to go at present.
"They (United) need to win it really," Brown told Sky Sports.
"It is getting to that stage in the season now where they need to be beating the big boys.
"Chelsea have been brilliant all season and if they (United) can get past that hurdle, then the remaining games become very important.
