Herrmann molested 21-year-old mare Ebony after breaking in to a barn
John Herrmann, 19, molested 21-year-old mare Ebony after breaking in to a barn.
He could have been jailed for up to 19 years after been charged with bestiality, trespass and burglary.
But he was put on 30 days house arrest followed by three years and 11 months probation in a plea deal which led to the burglary charged being dropped.
He had intercourse with the horse in South Shenango Township, Pennsylvania, last April.
Wayne Parish, who owns the animal with wife Maryann, shook with anger when he addressed the sentencing hearing.

This man knew what he was doing
“This man knew what he was doing,” he said.
The horse was not in good shape since the attack and had lost weight.
“It ain't the money – it's what he did to the horse,” said Mr Parish, whose relative caught Herrmann with Ebony. “What he did was wrong.”
Herrmann apologised to Crawford County Court of Common Pleas.
“I'm sorry,” he said.
“I want to do everything to make sure this doesn't happen again.”
Judge Anthony Vardaro said state sentencing guidelines limited him from sending Herrmann to jail on the bestiality charge because he had no criminal record.
“The best I can do is keep you under supervision,” he told him.
“Society has to accept something like this not to happen.”
Herrmann's lawyer Randall Hetrick said his client was having psychiatric counselling.
“He's getting the help he needs,” he told the Meadville Tribune.
