Arron Banks will take on Douglas Carswell for the Clacton seat
The multi-millionaire Bad Boy of Brexit confirmed to Express.co.uk that he wants to “make Clacton great again” and will “definitely” be running against his former party colleague.
He said the main point of his manifesto will be to improve the local area and spruce up a bit.
But there is doubt as to whether Mr Banks, 51 and one of Ukip’s biggest donors, will actually stand on behalf of the party he has nurtured to success.
When asked if he will be standing for Ukip, he said: “We will be meeting to look at the general situation.
“I don’t think Ukip should stand against people that voted for Brexit – people of any party, whether that’s Labour or the Tories.”

But he is hopeful of a Ukip resurgence, which is much needed as the party has stagnated in recent months following the Brexit vote and Paul Nuttall’s Stoke by-election defeat to Labour’s Gareth Snell.
He said: “I think Ukip have some chance of pinching some of the Labour seats and so we may see a number of Ukip MPs.
“Labour is on its last legs and this may finish it off."

Mr Banks, who co-founded the Leave.EU campaign and is worth an estimated £100million, plans to beat Mr Carswell by attacking the former Tory’s motives.
He said: “We will make it a point that Douglas Carswell is a career politician – he’s only in it for himself.
