The 57-year-old presenter struggled to contain her emotions as she told viewers about the sad news story making the headlines.
“Meanwhile, funerals have now begun to take place for the victims of the Manchester bombing. Yesterday, friends and family of Eilidh MacLeod have laid her to rest on Barra,” she was heard telling viewers.
However, as she continued, her voice started to shake: “The 14-year-old was taken from her home to Our Lady Star of the Sea in Castlebay for the service and her favourite Ariana Grande song was played.”
Scenes were shown of the funeral on the little Scottish island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides and a bagpiper was heard playing as the procession sombrely walked.
The Scottish broadcaster from Glasgow, added: “Breaks your heart, breaks your heart, it really would.”
It was then that she started to break down in tears and apologetically told the camera: “Sorry.”

Lorraine then cut to the competition as she regained her composure and continued with the programme.
Her emotional moment came shortly after she spoke to Richard Angell on the ITV show, who was caught up in the London terror attack over the weekend.

The magazine editor recounted his experience of the terrifying experience, saying that since the events of Saturday night he was “tired and emotional”.

He said: “I am keen to say that these people will not win in any way, shape or form. They cannot and they will not and they should not. They attacked us for being the best of London and we’re going to respond at our best.
“The people of Manchester gave a blueprint of responding to such cowardice acts and it’s London’s turn. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.”
