Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, made the announcement earlier today as she stressed her “solidarity” to her London counterpart Sadiq Khan.
She said: “Paris and London have close links of friendship, which have never ceased to grow over the last few decades.”

The politician admitted the two European capitals "share the same love of freedom and a commitment to democracy."
She added: "These are two tolerant and cosmopolitan cities open to the world that draw their strength from their diversity.”

Two dead, 12 injured as knifeman mows into crowd in Westminster

Three French schoolchildren are among those injured in the terror attack in Westminster on Wednesday afternoon.
Their teacher told the Telegraph: “Three of us were hit, we don’t know if they are dead or not. I cannot speak anymore, I don’t know what to say.”
A spokesman for the French foreign ministry confirmed that the three injured pupils are from the Saint-Joseph high school in Concarneau, Brittany.
French prime minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, tweeted: "Solidarity with our British friends struck terribly, full support to the injured French pupils, their families and their classmates."
Earlier today, five people were killed and 40 have been injured after a major terror attack in the heart of London today.

A vehicle mounted the pavement on Westminster Bridge, leaving dozens injured

A car ploughed through a crowd of people on Westminster Bridge shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon, killing at least two.
The car, a grey Hyundai i40, then continued down towards Parliament before colliding into a gate.
Central London has been on lockdown as authorities deal with the incident
The attacker then attempted to storm into Parliament before being confronted by a police officer, named this evening as Keith Palmer.
This officer was fatally stabbed while stopping the killer, who was then shot dead.
France has suffered a series of horrific terror atrocities in recent years, including the Paris attacks in November 2015 and the Bastille Day killings in Nice last July.
