Mark Stembridge praised his staff at Cafe Brood – three of whom are former members of the Albanian military – after they helped to pull customers inside to safety from the terrace where they were dining.
He and his employees acted quickly when they saw the three terrorists carrying huge knives heading towards the building where they were at Borough Market.

Mr Stembridge said that police had passed on advice to him in the wake of the Westminster attack earlier this year, and called for more training to be given to restaurant and bar owners in anticipation of future attacks.
He said: “We’d been told by the police what to do and we secured most of the people within the premises.”
