The Reds fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat against Southampton at Anfield as Claude Puel’s side progressed 2-0 on aggregate.
And it was England international Daniel Sturridge who was largely to blame for missing an array of key chances.
After the tie, Liverpool fans and Reds hero Jamie Carragher dealt heavy criticism towards the 27-year-old, who has been linked with a move away during the season.

Jurgen Klopp has had to stick with Sturridge in the absence of Sadio Mane with the Senegal international still away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
And Wright has identified his impact on the Liverpool team as the big loss in recent weeks.
"Mane is a massive miss because he gives them that drive past the back four,” Wright told The Sun.
“Daniel Sturridge doesn't do that. He's not getting past the back four and breaking the lines. Liverpool have lost that.
