Waren Gatland has admitted the British and Irish Lions could lose up to 10 players to injury over the next month during the tour of New Zealand.
Lions tour schedules are deliberately gruelling, and there have been a fair few gruesome injuries in the past as players put their bodies on the line for the honour of representing the home nations.
From the appalling attack on Ronan O'Gara by Duncan McRae to Tana Umaga and Keven Mealamu's spear tackle on Brian O'Driscoll, history shows a Lions tour is not suitable for the faint-hearted.
