Leon Osman says Arsenal were out of the title race long ago

Arsenal were embarrassed by Chelsea yesterday, falling to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of their local rivals.

The Gunners have now lost six times in seven years at Stamford Bridge and supporters were calling for Arsene Wenger to go.

The result means Arsenal are now 12 points adrift of Antonio Conte's side and according to ex-Everton midfielder Leon Osman, their title hopes ended long ago.

"A lot of people were saying Arsenal were potentially still in the title race – I didn’t believe so myself," Osman told Match of the Day 2.

"Chelsea just went and absolutely destroyed Arsenal.

"They sent a clear message not only to Arsenal and the Arsenal fans but also the Premier League.

"They are the team running away with the league at the moment. They’re going to be very difficult to catch."

Chelsea have won eight of their last 10 Premier League games, losing only once to Tottenham last month.

Arsenal, by comparison, have slipped off the pace and have now suffered back-to-back defeats to Watford and the Blues.
