The video, which included footage of the Las Vegas skyline, called for jihadists throughout the world to commit solo terror attacks.
After being released, the video was promptly investigated by officials for its authenticity.
Police activity after the Manchester attack
Southern Nevada counter-terror chief, Captain Christopher Darcy, said: “It would be irresponsible not to take any threat as credible.”
With Las Vegas being a popular tourist destination for visitors around the US and the world, Captain Darcy has suggested law enforcement will be bolstered.
He added: “I’d rather respond to 1,000 nothings than miss the one something that’s going to lead us to stopping an attack here in our valley.”

The video’s narrator called for “all-out war” to be waged by “soldiers of the caliphate” and to “open in their faces the door of jihad”, referring to “tyrants” in Russia, Europe and the US.
Police have said it is important for people in the area to be vigilant and report suspicious activity. More security patrols will also be taking place in the city.
