Kell Brook will face highly rated American challenger Errol Spence
Brook had been in negotiations with Amir Khan over a super-fight at Old Trafford but talks broke down last month when the pair could not come to an agreement over payment.
But now promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that the 30-year-old will instead face mandatory IBF welterweight challenger Spence, who is unbeaten in his first 21 fights.
“Terms agreed for Kell Brook v Errol Spence,” Hearn said on Twitter.
“Full announcement coming soon.
“Fight will take place in the UK.
Kell Brook is the defending IBF welterweight champion
“Best fight in the division."
Express Sport understands the fight is likely to take place in Brook’s hometown of Sheffield with May 20 the mooted date for the bout.
Kell Brook lost to Gennady Golovkin in his last outing
The Brit suffered the first defeat of his career last time out, losing to Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin, the three-belt middleweight world champion.
But Brook is confident of stepping back down 13lb to the welterweight limit.
