Kell Brook had a bruising fight against Errol Spence
Brook was aiming to defend his belt for the fourth time but was coming into the fight on the back of a defeat, having lost to Gennady Golovkin after stepping up to middleweight.
But he recorded his second consecutive loss, this time on the home soil of Bramall Lane, losing by an 11th-round knockout to the impressive Spence Jr.
Brook was actually in talks with Khan but book the Spence Jr fight when negotiations broke down in January.
But now the Bolton boxer is once again talking up the possibility of facing the 31-year-old in the welterweight division.
“I’d like to fight him a 147lb,” Khan told Sky Sports.
“Kell has had the loss now and I’m sure he’ll go into another fight which will be a nice, tune-up fight.

Kell has had the loss now and I’m sure he’ll go into another fight which will be a nice, tune-up fight
“Maybe next summer we could do it.
“It depends on the dates because there’s a lot of pay-per-view fights on.
“Amir Khan v Kell Brook is a pay-per-view fight and I really believe that next summer it would make sense.

“Kell needs some time now to relax and chill out but next summer might give him enough time to get a tune-up fight and then go into a big fight.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn is understood to have been frustrated by negotiations between Brook and Khan but mentioned in the ring after Brook’s defeat that he is still willing to try to agree terms – although the weight division could also be a point of contention.
“Kell is a stubborn man who didn’t want to vacate the belt but I believe he should move to light-middleweight,” Hearn said.
Amir Khan would welcome a fight against Kell Brook
“There’s a gentleman here tonight – Amir Khan.
“That’s a fight we wanted for four or five years.
“But right now it’s about making sure Kell’s healthy and okay.”
Brook’s health is a major concern after a second fight in a row was stopped over damage to his eye.
He broke an eye socket in the loss to Gennady Golovkin and suffered a similar injury against Spence Jr, although the extent of this latest injury is not yet known.
