Firstly, Jose Mourinho says his friendship with Real president Florentino Perez is such that he believes Perez would ring him personally to register his interest in the Spain No 1.
And, secondly, he is convinced that De Gea – who was on the brink of joining Real in August 2015 – remains happy and settled under his management at Old Trafford.
Reports in Spain have claimed Real want to buy either De Gea or Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois this summer and they were fuelled when Perez said cryptically “someone’s trying to mess with De Gea there.”
Sir Alex Ferguson once joked he “wouldn’t sell a virus” to Real but as a former boss of the Spanish giants, Mourinho was more diplomatic.
Jose Mourinho is confident David De Gea will not join Real Madrid this summer
David De Gea has once again been linked with a move to Real Madrid
“With regards Mr Perez and his right arm, Jose Angel Sanchez, they are some of the people in football that I can say I did not just work for them and then it [the relationship] is over,” he said. “I can say that we are friends forever, big friends. I like them a lot.
“And friends speak, friends are open, friends are honest. So, if at the end of the season I want one of their players or they want one of our players , we will not do it through the press – we are going to exchange messages. We will be very direct. So they are one of the clubs that I am not worried about at all.”
Mourinho is also certain 20-goal top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic will want to finish his top level career at Manchester United, who have already confirmed they intend to trigger the option of a further 12 months in the Swede’s one-year contract.
“He came with the intention to stay two years,” said Mourinho, “but in the minds of everyone the first year is going better than every expectation.

Who will Jose Mourinho start against Watford?
“He knows we are going to try again to improve next season and try to share with him in a fantastic way probably the last year of his career at the highest level – so I’m totally convinced that he’s staying.”
Walter Mazzarri finally gets the chance to sample Old Trafford today after revealing why he decided to set up camp in Manchester.
The Italian is back on familiar territory after living in the city last season as he waited for a Premier League call.
Mazzarri’s three-month stay in the north-west saw him sample games at the Etihad, Anfield and Goodison Park as part of his education. But he never watched Manchester United, where he takes his Watford side tomorrow.
Mourinho also said he expects Zlatan Ibrahimovic to retire at Manchester United
The Watford manager said: “Living there made it easier for me to understand the culture and life in the UK. I lived like a British citizen. If I was in London I think many Italians would have stopped me. It wouldn’t be as a normal life as living in Manchester.
“I was recognised at times but compared to Italy it was easy as you can’t walk around. It helped me a lot to get used to the environment before I came here to London.
“And it was a period I enjoyed and a city I know very well. I still have some friends there.”
