Jose Mourinho praises Manchester United right-back Antonio Valencia
Mourinho decided to extend Valencia's contract earlier this week, keeping the 31-year-old at Manchester United until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
And the Red Devils manager believes it's nothing short of what the Ecuador international deserves, claiming he is the best right-back in world football.
Mourinho said on Valencia: "I don’t see it as a reward, he is simply the best right-back you can have, there is no better right-back in football.
"It isn’t a reward for him, it is a privilege for us to be able to keep such a good player and man."
Valencia joined United as a winger under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2009 and was used as a makeshift full-back occasionally under Louis van Gaal.
He has now made 23 starts at right-back under Mourinho, with only Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic starting more games out of United's outfield players this season.
