Yesterday, the former Countdown host had football fans sweating by hinting in an interview that he has plans to retire soon.

But he has swiftly moved to shut down any rumours that he is set to leave his post any time in the near future.
"It was, shall we say, a misunderstanding," he said.
"One day I will retire, but I am not planning it this year, next year or the year after.
