An avalanche buried the Hotel Rigopiano in Abruzzo.
Rescuers hoped to find more survivors as they yesterday tunnelled into the heart of the building, a day after a litter of three puppies were discovered hiding in the hotel’s boiler room.
Fifteen people are still missing after a 120,000 tonne wall of snow crashed into the four-storey building last Wednesday, hours after earthquakes shook the region.
Prosecutors in nearby Pescara have opened an investigation into the avalanche.
