An expert want the fight against ISIS could take 30 years
During an interview with the conservative French daily Le Figaro, Mathieu Guidère said ISIS was “not doomed to fail” and that jihadists would “fight until death”.
He said: “Religious wars are long and complex and crushing ISIS might not be so easy. ISIS militants are far from being doomed, and how could they be, since they have sworn to fight until death or victory. They will not concede defeat.”
Mr Guidère added that ISIS’ self-proclaimed caliphate – a state governed in accordance with Sharia law by God's deputy on Earth, a caliph – would “outlive” the terror group.
He said: “The Islamic caliphate is here to stay and it could take another 15 years to abolish it.

Expert Mathieu Guidère said jihadists would 'fight to the death'
“ISIS’ recent territorial losses do not mark its end – the terror group may have been weakened by US and Russian airstrikes, but it has not been crushed. And radical Muslims’ support for the war against Western values has not wavered. The conflict itself could go on for another 30 years.”

The terror expert added that ISIS had launched a bloody war on the West in a bid to “outdo” its number one rival, Al Qaeda.
He said: “The rivalry between the two groups is palpable. ISIS fighters have a twisted logic: Al Qaeda became ‘famous’ after 9/11, and so they figured that the only way to gain international notoriety was to follow in Osama Bin Laden’s footsteps. But they went one step further, and built a network of foreign jihadists to launch attacks on EU and US soil.”

The French Islamologist said ISIS had launched a war on the West to outdo Al Qaeda
“But more and more Muslim countries, including Morocco, are denouncing the terror group’s twisted interpretation of the Islam’s holy book, the Koran.
“Morocco banned the production and sale of the burka because, until recently, 95 per cent of Moroccan women wore loose white veils, not the full-face black veil. The black veil is common in more radical Islamic countries, but not in north Africa. The government wanted to send Islamic extremists a message: the burka has no place in Morocco.”

Mr Guidère went on to describe Donald Trump as an 'anti-Muslim'
Mr Guidère also weighed in on the impact of Trump’s presidency on the Muslim world.
He said: “Donald Trump is clearly anti-Muslim. But will his claims trigger another holy war or fuel the fight against ISIS? It’s hard to tell. But extremists tend to have the upper hand, and if that proves to be true, jihadists could win the war.”
