Activist Jack Buckby's rant caused outrage on social media
Jack Buckby, a former BNP member who stood in the by-election triggered by the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox, handed Barbara Ntumy a refugee application form and told her “You know what, put your money where your mouth is – Syrian refugees application form.”
His outrageous rant was met with gasps in the Channel 4 studio and many viewers took to social media to express their shock at what they’d seen.

One Twitter user wrote: “Absolutely reeling from the interview on Channel 4. Hard to believe that Jack Buckby was given air time.”
Another tweeted: “Never give former BNP member Buckby airtime again @Channel4News.”
The former BNP member was a member of a discussion about UK immigration
The pair were debating the so-called ‘alt-right’ in a Channel 4 News discussion when Buckby claimed he only wanted “people who are a drain on society” to be deported from Britain.
Ms Ntumy, a political activist from the National Union of Students black students’ campaign, quickly questioned who gets to decide on who is considered a drain on society.
He then accused her of faux-outrage, before producing the application form.

Viewers were quick to condemn Buckby for his outburst
Buckby stood for anti-Islam party Liberty GB in the Batley and Spen by-election in October 2016, receiving just 220 votes.
The party, which has only been running since 2013, wants to ban all immigration to the UK for five years and reverse what it describes as ‘the Islamisation of Britain’.
