When is the deadline to vote by proxy?
You must apply to vote by proxy before the deadline at 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday May 31) in England, Scotland and Wales.
The deadline has passed in North Ireland, but you can still apply in cases of unforeseen illnesses before 5pm tomorrow.
If you have an emergency that stops you getting to the polling station, you may be able to apply for a proxy vote up until 5pm on polling day.
How to apply to vote by proxy
When applying to vote by proxy, you must nominate someone trustworthy to cast a vote your behalf on polling day.
In order to vote by proxy, you will need to fill in an application form and state the reason why you cannot vote in person.

After completing the application form, you will need to sign it and send it back to your local electoral registration office.

Who can vote by proxy?
Anyone who is registered to vote can apply to vote by proxy but you must give the reason why you are doing so.
You can vote by proxy if you are on holiday or cannot go to the polling station for one particular election.
You are also eligible to vote by proxy if you are disabled or unable to go to the polling station due to work or education.
You can also vote by proxy if you are a British citizen living overseas, a crown servant or a member of the Armed Forces.
How to vote by proxy
If you are appointed to vote on behalf of someone else, you must go to the polling station for them or arrange to vote by post.
If you do not receive a proxy poll card in the post, you should check with their local council.
