The new Halo Wars 2 beta has arrived on Xbox One and Windows 10
Halo Wars Blitz is a free-to-play multiplayer beta is running now and is open to anyone on Windows 10 PC and for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One.
It’s set to run until January 30, the official Halo Wars 2 release date has been set for February 21, worldwide.
“Unlike a traditional RTS match, your entire army and Leader Powers are selected and built before a Blitz match even begins,” an official Microsoft message explains.
“Players will select a Leader and build a deck of 12 cards, with each card representing a type of unit or Leader Power.
“All units and Powers have an energy cost associated; finding the right balance of cheap and weak vs. expensive and high-tech units is all part of the deeper strategy.
“There are also Leader-specific cards; for instance, Captain Cutter is all about providing orbital support from the UNSC Spirit of Fire (Archer Missiles!) while UNSC Logistics AI Isabel can confuse opponents with AI holograms.
“In team matches, players will also want to figure out ways to synergize decks for maximum impact.”

State of Decay 2 on Xbox One and Windows
Halo Wars 2, Xbox, and 343 Industries have also brought the intensity of battle to gamers through a new real-world combat experience inspired by the Halo universe.
Unaware of the test ahead, fans were led into a Halo-themed military command centre where a conventional demonstration quickly turned into an onslaught of action and chaos, with UNSC unit commanders requesting orders.
The new recruits quickly realised that they were in the hot seat, tasked with saving their own lives and their units, with no other tools other than their quick strategic thinking. Some panicked at the situation; other did better with the problems on hand.
