GTA 5 Online players may want to check out this new mod in Spring
The group of modders who have taken on the mother of all challenges by attempting to bring Liberty City from GTA IV to Los Santos have now posted an update on their project.
Having worked on the new map expansion since GTA 5 was launched on PC in 2015, the modding team OpenIV recently launched a teaser trailer.
It showed a new area to explore across the ocean, although only the outline of what was over there could be seen.
Now in a fresh update, Grand Theft Auto 5 fans have learnt more about when the new mod may be ready.
The modding team have confirmed that they are working around the legal issues of adding a whole new map to the game, by making it an automatic converter that converts Liberty City from your copy of GTA IV into your copy of GTA V.

They have also revealed that this new mod’s first version could arrive by Spring, although given its gestation period, it’s fair to say there could still be a few bumps along the way.
“Our team have great plans for GTA V modding and today I want to share some of them with you.
“In the next several months, we are going to update all our core tools and mods, and then make first release of our Liberty City in V convertor.
“We do not have exact or even estimate dates, but for now we are plan to release first version of Liberty City during the spring season (March, April, May).”
Fans who want to run the new version of GTA 5 will need to:
Download a convertor tool with some additional assets. This tool will convert Liberty City from your copy of GTA IV into GTA V.
- The converter tool will create a single player DLC pack, which will be installed into your GTA V.
- The convertor tool requires a lot of free space on your hard drive. The OpenIV is also required because the convertor tool uses it during conversion process.
- OpenIV have also added a disclaimer, warning fans that by downloading this mod, there will be a high probability that they could get banned by Rockstar.
“You will not be able to play online because Rockstar Games does not allows mods in GTA Online,” an earlier OpenIV statement adds.
Fans may one day get to play other new offline content, if recent reports prove true and Rockstar have been working on story DLC projects away from GTA 5 Online.
