Gary Cahill scored Chelsea's second in the 2-0 win over Hull
Chelsea opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over strugglers Hull.
Antonio Conte's men capitalised on Liverpool's slip up against Hull on Saturday and were also boosted by Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
And Cahill thinks the win has eased the pressure on the Blues for their upcoming games against Liverpool and Arsenal.
"It was a good weekend before we kicked a ball today," Cahill said.
"We knew how important a game it was. These opportunities don't come around too often so you have to capitalise.
"Always in the Premier League anything can happen. At 1-0 it was dangerous and they gave it a big go."
"I see a healthy gap for us," Cahill added.
"We are determined to keep the gap going into two massive games [Arsenal and Liverpool].
"It is a big two or three weeks for us and we are over the first hurdle."
Chelsea face Liverpool on January 31 at Anfield, followed by a clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on February 4.
