England boss Gareth Southgate to opt for an attacking 4-1-4-1 formation against Lithuania
His team were widely praised for their performance last week against Germany in a 3-4-3 system, but Southgate believes a different style will be required against today's ultra-defensive opponents.
"Raheem is in our thinking," said Southgate yesterday after an extended England training session in the spring sunshine.
"I thought he had a good impact on our matches last November. He is the kind of one-against-one player who gives you more possibilities against teams that have packed defences.
"Players like him and Ross Barkley can make things happen by taking on individual opponents.

"The tactics have to suit us but they can't be the same for every game. How we play depends on the opposition.
"We have the flexibility play in different ways. We have to be adaptable. We need to be able to change quickly, within games as well as before them. That is a key skill for us to develop."
Southgate's likely switch to 4-1-4-1 could also mean a starting place for Jesse Lingard and he may consider switching the main striker from Jamie Vardy to Jermain Defoe.
Vardy is at his best with space to run behind the opposition defence, and could Defoe be the more suitable option for this game?
Raheem Sterling looks set to come into the fold to for England to take on Lithuania
"Possibly," said Southgate, without giving any clue about his choice. "They are both in very good moments. Jamie has set the tone for our performances with the way he presses and he is in good form.
"Equally, Jermain is scoring goal and playing well. He is a deadly finisher and if he is called up I have every faith he will score goals for us.
"I have been really impressed with his contribution to the group.
"It's great for younger players to see someone of Jermain's experience still with the hunger to score and to look after himself so well."
Southgate has been hugely impressed by the work ethic, commitment and ambition of the players in the past few days.
Jermain Defoe could be given the nod by Gareth Southgate to lead the line against Lithuania
"There has been huge progression in the squad already," he added. "I like their football intelligence. They can grasp new concepts and apply new tactical systems.
"We can progress quickly. How quickly remains to be seen. I like players to have responsibility. You should never under-estimate what players are capable of.
"I remember Terry Venables was brilliant as a coach because he allowed players to take decisions on the field. What he always said is that you need good players and good characters.
"The key message from me is to focus on performance. We are a hungry young team with a lot of potential. We want to play an exciting brand of football and work hard for each other. The score-line will take care of itself if we do that."
England ought to win comfortably enough today against Lithuania, and cement their control of the World Cup qualifying group.
Possible team: Hart (capt); Walker, Stones, Keane, Bertrand; Dier; Lingard, Lallana, Alli, Sterling; Vardy.
