The new episodes are expected to pick up where season six left off, with Cersei on the Iron Throne, Jon and Sansa back in Winterfell and Danerys sailing for Westeros.
It is believed that Jon and Daenyrys will meet for the first time in season seven and possibly prove a long-held fan theory.
Many believe that Jon’s father is Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenerys’s late older brother.
A flashback in the season six finale confirmed what many have long suspected – that Jon is not Ned Stark’s bastard but rather the son of Lyanna Stark and an unknown man.
It has been predicted that the duo will unite to seize the Iron Throne from Cersei, who could become the next mad queen.
Lena Heady has teased: “The thing that gave Cersei humanity was her kids. They're gone now. Her father is gone. Tyrion is gone. There's no-one to tell her she can't, she's stupid, she's just a woman.
“I think when Jaime looks anything other than happy, she has a 'f**k you' moment. This will be such an interesting season for them."

Daenerys and Jon Snow unite – The revelation that Jon's father was Rhaegar Targaryen could also potentially unite the siblings in the battle between ice and fire
Game Of Thrones will return later this year
Some have predicted that Cersei could be killed by her brother/lover Jaime.
A prophecy mentioned in the books foresaw that Cersei’s children would die one after another, and says that she will be strangled to death by “the Valonqar” – which translates to little brother.
This could mean either the youngest Lannister sibling, Tyrion, or Jaime, who is minutes younger than his twin sister.
Cersei could be toppled from the Iron Throne
In the season six finale, Jaime gave his sister an intense stare as she was crowned Queen following the death of their son Tommen.
Benioff and Weiss explained: “It's definitely a moment where Jaime has to start coming to terms with how drastically and irrevocably everything in his world has changed—political arrangements, his personal life, everything.
“He knew his sister was capable of big plays, but this is another level."
Sansa and Jon were reunited in season six
Daenerys will continue her journey across the Narrow Sea
Fans are hopeful that season seven will see the much-anticipated Cleganebowl clash between The Hound and his brother The Mountain.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays The Mountain, has said: “There's a lot of expectation from the fans to see that happen – obviously I cannot comment on that… you're just going to have to see what's gonna happen!”
The new season will also feature an “epic” fight scene that could top last year’s Battle of the Bastards.
Emilia Clarke has said: “Last season's battle was ridiculous, but this season, there's another battle that's epic.”
Season seven promises a clash to top the Battle of the Bastards
It is thought that the skirmish will be between Yara and Theon Greyjoy and their uncle Euron.
There could be a separate conflict between the Lannisters and the Tyrells.
Thirteen major cast members, 500 extras and 100 horses were spotted filming the climactic scenes which will likely appear in the season finale.
