French mayor thinks France should follow Trump and ban Muslims travelling to the country
Steeve Briois said if Marine Le Pen is elected French President in May she should restrict immigration Muslim-majority countries.
The Front National (FN) Vice President said the immigration order should be enforced "even if that means going against the wishes of outraged citizens".
Mr Briois said: "Why not [impose a de facto Muslim ban]? We do not live in Fairyland.
"The world is a horrible place and hard times call for hard measures..
"On occasion, the government has no choice but to implement a series of shock, stop-gap measures in a bid to protect citizens from foreign jihadists."
Mr Trump's order has barred Muslims from entering the US for at least the next 90 days
Mr Briois added that the US was a prime target for radical Islamic extremists and that, as president, Mr Trump was "free" to impose a travel ban on Muslims in order to keep his country "safe".
The FN official did, however, say that he felt "sorry" for the scores of "innocent" Muslims affected by the controversial ban.

Le Pen should restrict immigration Muslim-majority countries, according to the mayor
Mr Trump's order has barred Iraqis, Iranians, Yemenis, Libyans, Syrians, Sudanese, and Somalians from entering the US for at least the next 90 days.
It triggered a flurry of outrage and a fresh wave of anti-Trump protests over the weekend.
The new US president says the executive order will help keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the US and denies it is a so-called 'Muslim ban'.
