Kyle Edmund has lost on five sets to Kevin Anderson, while Stan Wawrinka plays Fabio Fognini.
Third seed Simona Halep beat Daria Kasatkina.
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal both went through yesterday.

16.55: Rain has delayed play in Paris but here is some reaction from some of the early winners today.
Simona Halep says a troublesome ankle was not going to stop her getting through Daria Kasatkina 6-0 7-5 and into the second round.
"I felt it a little bit at one backhand, because I turned too much…But doesn't bother me much, so I'm not thinking about it. I can run, I can slide," she said.
And Stan Wawrinka was pleased with his 7-6(2) 6-0 6-2 win over Italian Fabio Fognini.
"I am playing very well at the moment but we all know how that can go in a grand slam… Each game gets more difficult."

"I'm starting to feel better. I was really looking forward to the French Open. This is one of the most important tournaments of the year.
"I wanted to come and play some good tennis. Each day I'm feeling a little bit better.
"Whoever won that first set had big momentum. It's slow and heavy and coming back in these conditions is difficult.
"I thought I played some good tennis toward the end and I expected a tough match.
"It was tough. I think he was playing much better than me in the first set. Both of us hand some chances in the first set, the second set was the same. Both those sets could have gone either way."

Andy Murray cruises through to the fourth round after a third set to love.
Del Potro didn’t look right and the strain of a groin injury may have been too much for him.
It is a meek way to end what was shaping up to be a classic at Roland Garros. Not that Murray will mind.

Andy Murray looks like he’s got this now. He’s broken Del Potro twice and the Argentine looks like he’s had enough.
Murray plays a lovely drop shot that Del Potro sprints to get. He does so but the resulting shot goes long.
Del Potro’s head drops. His French Open is all but over.

Murray sees off Del Potro with an ace, having broken the Argentine in the previous game.
Meanwhile, Kyle Edmund’s tournament is over after he finally wilted to Kevin Anderson’s mega serve.
Edmund is out 6-7, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

Murray and Del Potro see off their own service games – the latter plating a lovely drop shot to make it 5-4 to Murray.
Murray serves for the set but endures a wobble, going 30-0 down after some controversy and heckling from the crowd.
Del Potro has Murray on the run and comes into the net to see off a crucial point but stumbles as Murray goes high. Del Potro then hits long. That was a gift.
A backhand from Del Potro gives him two break points. Murray claws back to deuce but then finds the net on Del Potro’s advantage and we’re level again.
Meanwhile, Kyle Edmund and Kevin Anderson are locked at 4-4 in their deciding set.
13:53: •Andy Murray 7-6 4-3 Juan Martin del Potro
Del Potro has the doctor and physic out on court. He played some great tennis to hold serve but didn’t do much to stop Murray going 4-2 up.
Del Potro has been suffering from a groin issue and it’s worrying the medical staff are on court so early in the match.
The Argentine succeeds in winning his serve, however, as Murray knocked wide at 40-30.

Del Potro doesn’t seem to have recovered well from the blow of losing that tie break.
He is first up to serve in the second set but it doesn’t go well. Murray breaks as Del Potro’s forehand goes long.
Meanwhile, Anderson has romped through that fourth set and bring it to 2-2 against Edmund.
It’s lining up to be an exciting day for the Brits!
13.23: Andy Murray 7-6 Juan Martin del Potro – MURRAY WINS THE FIRST SET
The tie break goes with serve until 5-4 Murray, where the Scot delivers a delightful dropped backhand to get his mini break.
Del Potro brings it back to 6-5 and then breaks himself, frustrating Murray.
The duo get back into their rhythm and Murray saves the set with a 17-shot rally to make it 8-8.
The umpire is off his chair to check the mark of a Del Potro shot. It’s wide and the replay shows it. Murray wins the tie break 10-8.
Del Potro is motionless at the net. After a staggering tie break he loses the first set by a matter of inches.
Meanwhile, over on Court 2 Kyle Edmund is 4-1 down in the fourth set against Kevin Anderson. That should be heading for a fifth.

We’re into a tiebreak in the opening set after both men have traded blows.
12.50: Andy Murray• 5-5 Juan Martin del Potro
Murray endured a miserable day on Thursday and still managed to win. His serve was creaky and he was broken early again today against Del Potro.
Murray was trailing until finally hitting back at 5-4 down on Del Potro’s serve. He needed four break points to do it but eventually he dispatched the wining shot.
12:45: Kyle Edmund is currently locked in a real tussle with Kevin Anderson.
The Brit won the first set on a tie break but lost the second – again on a tie break.
He takes the third 7-5. What a match this is.
Anyone banking on these two going the distance should be pretty smug right now. There’s very little to split them.
