Juan Martin del Potro has earned legions of new fans after comforting his tearful opponent Nicolas Almagro when the Spaniard had to withdraw from the French Open due to injury

Almagro was forced to retire hurt after less than half an hour of his match against Del Potro due to a knee injury, collapsing in tears on the court.
Del Potro has experienced extensive fitness problems of his own and was the first to comfort his stricken opponent, helping him to his chair and offering a shoulder to cry on.
Almagro had battled back from a set down to level the match at 1-1, but was forced to concede to Del Potro following the apparent recurrence of an existing knee issue.
The duo were into the third game of the third set when the Spanish player crumpled to the clay.
The 31-year-old is a three-time quarterfinalist at the French Open, and couldn't contain his emotions when he realised he would have to throw in the towel.
Del Potro even packed Almagro’s bag and helped him from the court to loud cheers from the Roland Garros crowd, and Twitter has been quick to praise the Argentinian’s kindness.
