When asked if he was working for Vladimir Putin, the MEP burst into laughter.
“No I’m not a Russian spy! And it just shows you the crazy levels of conspiracy theory that some people are going into – it is utter rubbish,” he said.
“If the story is that I have links to Donald Trump and his team, well, of course, that’s true I do, but if there is some crazy idea that I'm some sort of conduit between team Trump and the Russians or Julian Assange, then frankly the whole thing is nonsense.”
